“It's just gathering dust in a closet somewhere.”
Your daughter gave you a waffle iron one year for your birthday. You haven't used it for a few years. Now someone is asking you where it is, and this is your reply.
“Can you go gather some kindling?”
You're camping with your family. You want to start a camp fire, so you need some small sticks. You make this request of your son.
“Do you take this man to have and to hold from this day forward, for better and for worse, 'till death do you part?”
You're at a wedding. The minister has completed most of the ceremony, and now he's at the part where the couple exchange their vows and say "I do". This is what the minister asks the woman.
“Can I get a sip of that?”
You're out on a walk with your girlfriend. It's hot out, and you're sweating and thirsty. You didn't bring any water, but your girlfriend did. She's drinking it, and you'd like to have some too. You ask her this.
“I shall destroy all who dare to oppose me!”
You're writing a fantasy novel. There's a character in the novel who is an evil king. He hears that the hero of the story has attacked his army, so he says this.
